The hub and I spent last weekend driving (1200 kilometers!), eating and visiting our son. A typical weekend in Vancouver with loads of rain and glimpses of sunshine, it was a mix of our favorite things. I dragged the hub and son in between storm clouds out to təmtəmíxʷtən/Belcarra Regional Park. We hiked 7.4 km to a small lake with a short stair climb that had us all huffing and puffing.
I spent a few hours milling aimlessly (and getting turned around!) in a very large mall while the hub and son played arcade games. We went bowling. We visited the Richmond night market, full of incredibly delicious food and the cheapest socks I’ve ever encountered, then saw a Marvel movie (don’t ask me about superheroes—I watch without any clue as to which universe we’re in or which character can do what), and enjoyed the luxury of no cooking and no responsibilities.
No responsibilities includes the Kennel Club…. With back-to-back travels and little writing time, I’m revisiting another couple of Kennel Clubs this week.
First off? The joy of returning home. I’m a homebody and love where I live. Coming home makes me happy.
Homecoming
I just returned home from two weeks of travel, and I’ve got a lot of work to catch up on. It doesn’t help that I was traveling without my IT support (husband), and when my keyboard blacked out on me, I couldn’t write anything except by hand for the last week of the trip. While I had a few fun exploits, including beautiful hikes along the Pacific Ocean a…
Dog Days
And then we’ve got dog tales. I’ve got another Poppy story coming to the Kennel Club, but it’s not written yet. In the meantime, a tale about the hounds that have shaped my life and a contemplation about life with Rescues.
And then, as I wind up this short Kennel Club, a final piece about living life large, with little. A theme of my life, one could say. I don’t purchase or consume as much as others, have never wanted “things.” Just real food, fresh air, a life outdoors, and family and friends to share it with.
Just a Little Bit
This will be brief. I hope. Brevity isn’t always my strong suit, certainly not in writing, but after a month away from my computer with a backlog of tasks facing me, maybe I can keep it short.
I will be back next week with a new Kennel Club and new tales to tell. I appreciate your patience in these past two weeks. It’s allowed me to travel and visit my family with a peace of mind and no pressure. Though the hub and I are traveling again this upcoming weekend to celebrate our anniversary, I should have both time to write, and time to relax.
Thanks for reading.
